A Declaration of “a Modern Revival of Classical Music” — A VTuber’s First Solo Opera Concert Set for Year’s End

Shichitembattoin Aegis has declared that she raises the banner of “a modern revival of classical music.”
Together with this, she has revealed her signing to the theatrical music label “COMPLEX MUSIC.”

As her first step, a first-ever solo opera concert by a VTuber has been set for the end of this year.

What follows is the statement addressed to you all by producer “Prisoner P,”
on the occasion of the beginning of Aegis’s arduous challenge.

“Has classical music fallen into decline?”

To this most difficult of questions, one VTuber now rises.

As of today, Shichitembattoin Aegis begins her challenge: to stand as the standard-bearer that joins “the modern” and “the classical,” and to raise the banner of a modern revival of classical music.

“Has classical music fallen into decline?”

Of course, it has not. If anything, there may be no music more supreme, nor further from any “decline.” Aegis, too, is one who remains captivated — even now, in the present age — by the splendour of a classical music beloved across the centuries.

And that is exactly why. She has long held a wish in her heart: that this music, so magnificent, might sweep once more through every generation of our time; that a world might come in which anyone, in the midst of ordinary life, could savour the wonder of classical music as a matter of course.

To come to know the splendour of classical music is to have one’s whole view of music transformed — and one’s life with it. Aegis is one such person. And so — this is her way of repaying classical music. Choosing, deliberately, the word “revival” — a word that may sound as bold as it is presumptuous — she wishes to begin a challenge that faces classical music head-on.

It is precisely because she is the one who overcame a channel deletion and countless trials to reach 100,000 subscribers twice over, that she wishes to take “the VTuber” — a new power shining in this Reiwa era — and cross it with “opera,” to attempt what none have achieved before: a modern revival of classical music.

As her very first step, a solo opera concert — the first ever by a VTuber — has been set for the end of this year. It will be a live performance where opera is savoured in the flesh.

Aegis is keenly aware that even this first step — a VTuber × opera concert — will hold no small share of hardship.

And further ahead await countless difficulties still: a solo recital at Tokyo Opera City, and — more than singing alone — a goal she cannot yet make public, one unheard-of for a VTuber.

Yet the whole of this challenge, failure and success alike, she will keep sharing in real time, through short videos and more, concealing nothing.

And as of 4 July, Shichitembattoin Aegis joins the theatrical music label “COMPLEX MUSIC” as well; as agency and as label alike, we will support her fight and follow it to its end.

This challenge cannot be won without the support of you all. How many years this battle will take, we cannot even begin to guess.
